I forgot about the urge to drink? The most bizarre thing happened today... My husband and I had a fight. But not the kind you yell, and cry, and end up throwing a flip flop at him...it was the calm and quiet fight. Ugh those are the worse! I stood as tall as I could in my whole 5'4'' body and told him very calmly the brutal truth, in a very non dramatic way. My confidence is growing that's for sure! The strange thing...while we were talking I lit a cigarette. We were in the garage and there were no ashtrays...so I grabbed an empty can of beer and used it as an ashtray (so classy, I know...) 20 minutes and 2 cigarettes later I put the beer can down and walked away...and then I realized I'd been holding a can of beer the entire time and didn't even think about it! It didn't make me want to grab a fresh can, it didn't make me have horrible cravings. All I thought was "Oh I used to drink this, but not anymore" A small miracle in a very big bad day. I am so grateful. |

It really does happen. Good for you Patricia :) D |
Good going! :) Keep at it and it will get better too. |
((((Patricia)))). Sounds good! progress! Always remember this moment in case the cravings come up. And I hate those, calm rational fights too. Good job on handling it so well. love from Lenina |
WOW! That is very good! |
Good job! I've used beer cans as ashtrays numerous times. Now it is soda cans in a pinch. |
It is a really great moment isn't it? It does happen! It becomes a non issue. You can still get the cravings once in a while but they're nothing more than a passing thought. So glad that you had this experience! |
