fresh start
Hi all
New to being sober. 2 days in fact. I drank almost every day for 10 years. 8 years ago i gave up on the cigs. 2 yrs ago I started working out half hearted. I figure I need to getback into great shape wich means really pushing my self at the gym, and improving my diet. This includes cutting the booze.
I think that stopping the drink will be the hardest part for me. Since it has caused some problems for me in the past but chose to keep drinking rather than quit then.
My plan is to go go cold turkey for now. Maybe seek some help from a pro later if needed. I think that a small support group such as all of you could be a big help.

Hang in there. I was so bad that I
ended up in detox for 12 days.
For us alcoholics, there is no such
thing as tapering or cutting down.
It is impossible for us to ever be
social drinkers. Stay strong and
be determined. There is a much
better life ahead.

Great decision. I don't think anyone looks back over their life and muses "Man, sure wish I had drank more booze, been more bloated, been less productive, and let my loved ones down more often."
I've never regretted this decision. You won't either! Best to you.

Hello and welcome and congratulations on two days and your decision to quit.
This is a BIG support group, and you'll find a lot of it here.
Wise choice on being ready to seek help if the withdrawal gets bad.
I drank for thirty years so quitting is possible after a long run.
Have you considered AA or other people based program. AA saved my life so it may be worth considering.
Best to you and hang in there sobriety is attainable.

I did consider AA Ghostlite. There are some conficts with the local group I looked into. So I found this group.
I believe that I will be good when I make it past the first 30 days. I was a beast the 1st month I went without a cigarrete. I am worried for my kids and how I might snap at them. Not hitting them or anything. I just dont want to be short tempered with them. I already swore at my youngest yesterday. I caught my self before I made it to the 2nd half of the sentence. I really felt like crap. I honestly dont think he even noticed. Its easy to redirect a preschoolers attention to a cat.
You called?
You will never regret a single sober moment, raaeoh. You deserve a life without the mess that alcohol inevitably brings with it. So demand it, and never let anyone or anything take it from you. Best to you.
