The problem I have been having I have been a very impatient person all of my life. Although I am 100% better than I was 2 weeks ago, I still feel like hell. I know it takes time. What affects me the most is memory. I can remember things that I done 20 years ago, but I can't remember where I put my keys one half hour ago. Brain damage? Medications? Or just old age setting in. Has anyone else experienced this? |
Give it a little time Chocagoan - we can really do a number on both mind and body. It can take a little longer than we might expect for things to return to normal. If you're concerned, of course see your Dr. Otherwise I'd give it at least a couple of months for recuperation. D |
Impatient, yes I understand. Sobriety hasn't helped that. Forgetfulness sobriety hasn't helped that either. You're fine. Stop worrying. |
Funny you should mention this. Just figured out I have had a pair of sun glasses for 4 years and I have sober for 4.75 yrs. In my drinking days I went through 2-3 pairs per season. It took a while but my memory is so much better |
Thank you everyone. |

I find post-it notes very helpful. :) |
What was this thread about again??? (Sorry couldn't resist) Hey, I've turned the coffee pot off in the morning and had to go back in the house to check more days than id like to admit. I forget words in the middle of a sentence. You're not alone :) |
''I forget words in the middle of a sentence" That has happened to me a number of times. I've had to ask the person that I was talking to,what were we talking about? |
This last time in which I sobered up I truly wondered if my memory was ever coming back things have gotten much better but I don't think that all of those party years did my memory any good just another reason not to drink today MM |
It takes a while for body and mind to function normally again. Give yourself time, and good health. See your doctor about any worries. See how you feel at three months sober. :) Things should smooth out by then. |
Thank you everyone, once again. |
