Please help
Haha. When I went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription for 'alcohol withdrawal' the pharmacist took one look at me standing there and shivering and said 'hang in there, I'll have this ready in under 5 min'. I'm so glad I saw a Doctor and the doctor said it was a very good thing that I came in. I thought I could do it on my own but I surpassed the point of being able to detox without medical help. This should also give me second thoughts about ever drinking again because if I do, it's straight back to the ER. Feeling much better today
I know it's been said 1000's of times on this forum, but if you are in the first couple hours or few days of trying to detox from alcohol, SEE A DOCTOR. I know everyones situation is different and only you know your body best. I thought I could do it on my own yet again but this time I was in serious danger and I'm so glad I listened to my body. Each withdrawal is dangerous and if you've tried and failed many times like I did, each withdrawal gets worse. My local hospital ER as do many even has a special unit just for addicts going through withdrawal and will usually see you right away. I was in and out in under an hour and saw many others who looked just as bad off as me or worse. No need to be embarrassed. I just hope this may reach someone else trying to 'white knuckle' it through alcohol detox like I did.
