First AA meeting tonight

I went to my first meeting, and it was scary and I was having anxiety. Half way through I felt more at ease from the stories. I went to a closed book meeting, and it was cool but I think I'll try an open meeting for younger people next time, because I was the youngest person. About 4 people gave me their card, and asked to keep in touch. That was very nice. I also started therapy. I hope all this help will keep me sober! It's only day 2.

You made the first big step fitnessgirl! Way to go! Between AA and SR, you have lots of support so keep coming back and take it one day at a time!

"It's only Day 2" but you are giving yourself a running start.

You are really doing a great job gathering the support that you need during these days - so impressive. Keep looking forward! Talking and posting.

Funny I was just thinking about going to my first AA meeting on Sunday and what it would be like. I'm kind of nervous/anxious for it.

But this thread is about you, way to go. Stick with it and find what works for you.

Cometk, you should go! I was super nervous and even thought about bailing, but I promised everyone in my life I would go. I feel so much better that I did, and I could really relate to the stories I heard. One woman had her 27 year anniversary. That was inspiring, and she still attends meetings. Everyone was as supportive as they are here. Also a few stories scared me to death. They were tragic, and have me so scared that if I go back to drinking that is where I will end up. I recommend it, and I'm going again tomorrow. Good luck!!
