still not working

Hi all,
Well since my last post here about quitting, nothing has got better, I have tried to quit and Ihave told eeveryone who is important to me that I want to quit, but for me its just not hhappening.
I always seem to find an excuse to go back to the bottle and because of it I have lost a really good relationship, at the moment I still have my job but I also know that I'm running out of chances with that as well
I am thinking tomo of going to see the dr and see if I can get on a course of antabuse, the biggest problem I have and I guess its been said before, but Iam scared to death about doing it, and iI am also embarrassed about doing it aswell

Hi Jan

I think if you're still drinking and things are getting worse and worse then yeah, it's time to try something different.

Have you thought of something like AA at all (or another meeting based recovery group like SMART or LifeRing?)

D

Seems like you've found the problem, now you have to fix the problem. How can you train your brain to stop accepting excuses from an alcoholic?

I have a friend who has successfully quit drinking with help from Antabuse. She found the urge to drink most overwhelming in the evenings, so she took the pill in the morning before work and then she couldn't drink in the evening. The fact that she couldn't, and KNEW she couldn't, pretty much eliminated the cravings for her. She experienced no side effects. I would certainly try it if I were you.
