time to pick yourself up and stat again copa,

I'm curious as to what led to this. Did you know it was coming? Any pointers for me so I don't fall down? I have only 4 months and feel good about not drinking. I just don't want to get too cocky about it. Any advice is appreciated.

Hey Copano. I'm glad you posted about what happened.

I sure do remember those days. That's why I had to give up the idea that I could ever be a social drinker. There simply was no such thing as 'a few' for me. Always the whole bottle, then more the next day so I wouldn't shake. It's so good to be free of it. You can stop and never go back to that miserable place.

Hi CopanoBay

Maybe it's good to take a little time, look and what happened and why...that way you can work out how not to get in that situation again?

What will you do differently for your recovery to make sure you don't relapse again? Nothing changes if nothing changes.

From a chronic relapser, I know where you're coming from.
I relapsed a lot when I first tried to quit drinking.
What helps me now, is remembering those days after and how I felt.
I come here and read a lot, that helps me a great deal.

Don't be too hard on yourself. You can start anew today.
Best to you.

I'm in my second real attempt at sobriety after a way too long relapse. I fooled myself into thinking that maybe I didn't have a problem after all. I had to accept that I can never be a normal drinker and let that part of me go. It took a lot of soul searching and sleepless nights until I finally had that acceptance, but once I got there, I was able to move forward again.

I'm glad you came back so soon; I should have and probably would have been able to get back on track much sooner. I've come to look at sobriety as a gift and this time I am going to do everything in my power to make it last. Best wishes to you.
