The hardest part of night 1

All the detox symptoms we all know and love (right?) suck. But do other people find falling asleep on night one to be scary?

(did I take enough benzos to get me through the night? Am I going wake up hallucinating?)

These are my questions that scare me.

Is tonight the first night without alcohol for you? Or are these hypothetical questions?

Ok I see that this is a night #1 for you. I'm sorry you are facing some scary questions.

Did a doctor prescribe the benzos? If it were me, and I felt afraid, I would call the MD on call just for a check-in and reassurance.

Sometimes I sleep with the lights on when I feel scared.

I would keep a phone by me, and keep SR pulled up on it or on the computer.

Do you have any pets? I keep mine close when I am anxious.

You are really brave to be here tonight taking the first step to getting well.

I've been down the detox road a lot. This is just how I feel about falling asleep. More hypothetical even though I AM detoxing.

The meds they gave me last for like 4 hours. I'm not in any danger or anything. Heart rate is a tad high, but my body's going through a "tad" if you will.

I had to have my kitty rehomed because she attacks my 8 month old son. So I don't have her either.

I'm sorry Justin. Could you set an alarm to take your meds every four hours?

The good news is that this is going to be your last night one, right? Hugs.

I hope you stay close to SR. I love that people are here for each other 24 hrs a day.

Worrying only makes things worst based on my extensive detox experience.

Just relax and think positive, listen to soothing music and visualize your new life sober.

I agree with patman, worry will only make it harder to sleep.
