Always hungry
Always hungry
Hi all! I am almost 2 weeks sober, YAY! But my stomach is always growling. I had 2 rather good sized pancakes a couple of hours ago and my stomach is actually growling for more. I don't understand this. I have been drinking plenty of fluids and making sure I'm eating healthy while giving my body what it seems to want, but seriously, is it "normal" for my body to be so hungry all the time?
I'm hungry all the time as well. I am eating 3 balanced meals a day (well, I TRY to make them balanced ) and when I'm hungry in between I'm trying to eat more fruit and less cookies. I always have a glass in my hand or next to me, whether it's of crushed ice and water or decaf coffee. I abused my body for so long by being so hungover during the days that I wasn't hungry so I was usually eating only one meal a day. I think this is our bodies way of playing "catch up".

I went through a rough first few weeks where I was not hungry at all, but I soon got a crazy appetite which now means if I miss a meal my stomach soon let's me know. Strange how when I was drinking I ate very little but now waw!!

I eat like a starving fool. I wasn't great about food before, but the past three weeks I have been like a hungry hungry hippo. It was not this bad when I went six months last time. Big issues first, smaller issues next.
This is normal as heck. Just keep eating healthy and stay sober. Heck compared to my former diet of Maker's Mark, coke and jagermeister, I could eat twinkies all day and it would be an improvement.
When I was in rehab I gained 15 pounds. I never ate when I drank and since I drank all the time, I never ate. I still have to remind myself to eat. Getting hungry is a good way to start getting urges. Avoid that. I'm like casinva, always a glass in my hand of water, or decaf coffee. Regular coffee just triggers anxiety. I make sure I carry snacks with me. Bag of baby carrots, celery, cut up cucumbers, Cheerios, yogurt, etc. So, eat up. Pay attention so that you don't get too hungry. It will level out eventually.
