Newcomer and Relapse Nightmares

Hi all, I am relatively new to recovery. By the grace of God, I have been clean and sober for 55 days. Taking one day at a time, and slowly finding the person that I want to be. Happiness is a great thing! I have been keeping active in AA after completing intensive outpatient rehab back in March, I attend 3-4 AA meetings each week, I have a sponsor and am working the steps with him, and I have a home group now that I'm getting very active with.

One thing that I have been experiencing a lot lately are relapse nightmares at night. I had a particularly bad one last night and woke up nervous that I had screwed up big time. Luckily I had that "whew" moment after I came to my senses. I have talked to many others in my AA circles and they assure me that this is common, and over time, they'll get fewer and far between. That would be nice, because that was nerve-wracking last night!

Thanks for reading and I'm glad to be here.

Mike

Welcome to SR,Mike.
55 days is awesome!!!:c011:

It's not all that uncommon to have relapse dreams/nightmares.(there's actually a forum for this)
I have them still at nearly 9 months. And I know some long time members here say they still will have one on occasion.
Mine seem to be lucid dreams. And I often wake up and say"that was interesting". :)

As our good friend Dee once said, sometimes a dream is just a dream.

Important things is that you are sober. Your AV runs arround in your dreams because It's got no where to go during the day while you are in control.

Get a life AV! LOL!

Thanks for the replies and the thoughts. I'll have to check out the forum topic on the dreams for sure!
