So- I am a server and there's this guy I work with thats a user. Me being an addict/alcoholic believe me- I can tell! He's older than me. Probably 45. It is SO friggin uncomfortable for me when he's high. Or comes in the AM with the shakes and starts drinking behind the bar. Mind you- he is a "manager". My work place is screwed up but it is a job temporarily. I just have to get this out before I start my shift today because it's just me and him ALL day.

Stay strong, Jess. Keep telling yourself, over and over, that you are not him; that you do not have to drink; that you will not drink ; that you need and want sobriety. Shore up your mental resolve before you walk through the door.

Maybe you can look for another job???

good thing about restaurants and serving is that its usually busy and not too much time to sit around thinking. Keep your head busy!

THANKS everybody!!! Today is going good! I said a prayer before I went in like I always do. I have been debating getting a different job but reality is that there are people like this everywhere.
