ANZAC Day
The 25th of April is the day we Australians and New Zealanders remember those who serve in our armed forces today, those who have fought in the past, and those who died in the service of their country.
It's not a day to glory in war, but a day to say thanks to those many generations of men and women who have stepped up and fought for what they believed in so that we might be free today.
This year is especially poignant as its the 100th anniversary of the landing at Gallipoli during WW1 - in military terms it was a disaster, but it remains a major part in the forging of Australians & New Zealanders national identity.
Lest We Forget.

In was wondering about the significance of your avatar and meant to look it up but then got lost in other posts and forgot - my brain like a sieve. Thanks for the info.
Here's to freedom and to those who gave it to us and continue to protect and preserve its existence.
