Hello Everyone, I also beling to MWO but that has become quite with not many replies lately.

I am hoping someone can help me, I bought some AB off the net and had some success with it but went to an addiction councillor who told me to stop taking it and go to a Dr who told me to stop taking it and go to an addiction councillor?

I cannot stop drinking without it and think along with joining the AA I can quit.

I have discovered unless I take 250mg a day its does not have any side evfects if I drink apart from a red face but if I do take 250mg daily I stink of garlic.I did have a blood test whilst taking it that came up normal compared to not normal when I am drinking

So should I start taking it again despite to experts saying stop and does the garlic smell go away.

My hangovers are getting so bad and miserable, I reakky think do what it takes and is avaliable to help me quit,
Any advise is most wekcome

Hi GMC - welcome :)
by AB I assume you mean antabuse?

We actually have pretty stringent medical advice rules here.

It's pretty common knowledge tho that antabuse and alcohol can get you into a lot worse hot water than a red face.

I think your best move is to stop medicating yourself and to see a Dr - maybe a different one to the one you saw...

They may have different ideas on the treatment thats right for you?

Find yourself a sponsor at AA too - really commit to not drinking :)

The Dr said they dont deal with addictions and I need to go to a voluntary service for that which is BS imo
I was given the right run around really it took over a month to see a nurse who said see a doctor who said see Addaction who said see a doctor lol

Unfortunately none of us are doctors so we can't give medical advise.

But if you are drinking while taking anti abuse I think you need help.

Please see a doctor

Dr was not interest. It seems no one thinks its a good idea to take it except me so I wont.
Going to an AA meeting on your own is quite a tough thing to do, addaction say go to AA so I have come to a bit of a dead end with help tbh
