My sober vacation

Somehow, I have not been tempted to drink. I am on day 5 of a family trip. What I didn't plan for was being the only sober adult at dinner every night. Sadly, I find myself bored out of my skull. For this, there is no fix I guess. My travel group is less interesting with each Mai tai, this has me sad as I can't wait for the trip to end. So bummed, but much happier not to be drinking all day....

just think though, you will remember all the positive things about your vacation! Can you get away at all? Find some "me" time?

I know it can be odd being the only non-drinker at first, but it will get easier as time goes on. You are doing so well, jkirk.

"My travel group is less interesting with each Mai tai..."

That right there is motivation to not drink. Keep it going and hang in there.

Why not challenge your friends to enjoy a sober evening?

Cold Fusion: I never push my sobriety on anyone, but it's worth a SHOT. l.o.l.

No pun intended!

My final vacation post. I just boarded the plane. I can't believe I made 8 days in a beach environment without a single drink. I went to Duke's (one of my Favs), got a glass of water and a T-shirt.
Again, if I can do it, anyone can. Btw, it was a great vacation. I didn't miss being hungover or tired. Surfing without a hangover is a big plus also.

Great job sticking to a sober vacation. I know for me vacation, especially a beach vacation, would be a big trigger. I'm glad your vacation ended alcohol free.

jkirk your holiday must be difficult. I have one planned with the family at the end of the year but the only adult will be my husband and he will keep his drinking in check I hope.

Can you leave as soon as you have eaten (or start getting bored)? Go back to your room - have a bath - read your book. I do feel for you. I remember when I was sober last time - early on I had a dinner party to celebrate my husband's birthday - they all got smashed and eventuallly I went to my bedroom and rang sober friends late at night. It was really tricky and I did think 'why am I cursed with this afflication'. But really there are far worse things than not drinking alcohol.
