Prengnant??

So last night I went to a girls night with a bunch of friends.... Normally alcohol is always involved and typically I will have one or two glasses of wine when I go out with my girlfriends. But since my last binge, I have been very resistant to drinking alcohol anymore. So casually, I fill my glass with water instead of white wine.... Sit down at the table.... Conversation halts.

Them: why are out drinking water?
Me: ummmmmmmm...... Because I have moderation issues??
Them: oh. Ok. We were just hoping you were pregnant.

That wasn't awkward or anything :-/

It's a legitimate question from their side of things, and most likely well-intentioned.

I personally found that I needed to remove myself from drinking situations like that for a while, glad you were able to just drink water.

Nicely done I find!

If it's the same group of friends, I would think they won't ask every time you go out.
So this could be a closed case.

As long as it's not triggering you and they don't keep asking and pushing

Honesty my friends are incredibly supportive of my binge drinking problem and have always hold me accountable.

It depends on how close of friends they are to you. If they're not your good buddies, the question could be interpreted as rude.

Oh I used to get that question whenever I was on antibiotics...because that was the only time I wasn't drinking alcohol...when on antibiotics or pregnant!
