Dear Deeker

It's because of Deeker I'm back. Thank you Deeker for your message. I have pretty much given up and given in but I'm going to try again. I need your help. I need to post here when I leave work. This is when I have a problem. I go by the poison store before i go home. Help me not do that. My job is stressfull but...that's no excuse. I'm in a bad place and I'm scared. I can drink 375ml of vodka and hardly feel it. I don't know why I bother. It's 230 am est USA and I'm wide awake with another hard day ahead of me. I came here and had 2 months sober. Went on a business trip where every person was drinking something at dinner. I figured wine wouldn't hurt. Not really a wine drinker....wrong. the beginning of the end. Now it's worse than before. I really wish I could go away to a recovery place and be away from it all for awhile but its not possible with my job. To those who are able to do that..you are lucky to have that opportunity. Not all if us do. This is a wicked burden and I'm tired. Thank you all for being here.

I'm glad you're back Peaches

230am is probably not the best time to think about the future, but maybe it's time to think about what you used for you recovery this time, and what other things you might be able to add to that now?

Glad you're back peaches.

It IS possible to give up drinking when you're surrounded by it. My husband drank, all my family drank...and all our friends drank.

Not easy, but possible. Get some rest now, then come back in the morning and work out a plan. You can totally do this....

One more thing...remember in the old movies everyone was smoking? You rarely see that anymore. But they are still drinking. I think drinking should be just as taboo. They stopped advertising cigarettes on TV but not alcohol.

You can do this Peaches.
It's a hell of a job sometimes but it only needs to be done once more!
Be looking out for you.

Yah I know, it doesn't get any better out there. But I want you to know that as bad as
you are feeling right now, that you are helping a lot of people including me.

I need to hear that it is not getting any better out there. I am sorry that you had to
do the research but you really have helped me.

Now tomorrow's a new day. Take it 24 hours at a time. You may want to go into a
detox for a few days. Sounds like large quantities.

Can you take a Friday and a Monday off. Maybe you can get into a detox and they
can help you through the rough days.

Peaches,
After work is tough for me too. Long day, tired, very easy to do. There are so many bars & stores on every route home for me that I just can't avoid driving by. One thing I have found that if I ignore the urge after about an hour or so it passes and I find I feel better and don't need the drink.
Make a plan for the drive home to keep you from giving in. Here's some suggestions:
  1. Can you plan a route that doesn't go by any bad places?
  2. Be strong for only the 2 minutes it takes to drive by each place. Just 2 minutes.
  3. Instead of driving home, do something else. Go to the gym. Shopping. A park.
  4. Know that if you wait long enough the need will pass. Choose to wait.
