Hi again y'all

Some of you may remember me from when I was on SR starting in 2007. I have missed posting on here.

I was sober 5 1/2 years. It was the best five years of my life. I relapsed after a major neck surgery. I seriously never thought I would relapse. It was a very humbling experience.

I thought I could go back to meetings and do exactly what I did the first time and get clean and sober again. This was not the case. I was shocked to find that I could not quit using.

I am now clean and sober 82 days and very very grateful for that time.

I am blessed that most of my friends are in recovery.

Never say never!
What did you do the first time around?

What happened? I used again after a major surgery. But I also have gotten clean and sober again. Thank you God!

What did I do the first time around? Meetings, sponsor, sponsees, SR, prayer, meditation, recovery books, hang out with sober friends

This time I have added church to the above list.

The good news is I know I can get and stay sober because I have the experience of doing that before.

So they prescribed you drugs, like morphine. Thats a delicate place to be. Wish you the best.

Yes Matt. I had a serious neck surgery that required 18 months to heal. It was definitely a slippery slope. I am blessed that it did not get worse than what it did.

Hi Anna. Good to see you again.

Welcome back, Tanyapmc, SR. Glad you made it back to sobriety, also. Is your neck fully healed?

It's so good to see you! We joined just 2 months apart. I'm so sorry for all that you've been through, but you're back now - and that's what matters.

I remember when I was in the hospital, broken bone, morphine drip on a button. The nurse said you hit the bottom 218 times. It was timed so that it would dispense once every so many minutes. I remember that clear as day. I am not a drug addict, I am an old school straight up alcoholic. I sure as hell am careful about what I put into my body, and where I hang out. That 218 times that I wanted morphine, probably only actually dripped once or twice an hour, if that. And I hit it 218 times in 12 hours. That proves everything for me.
