Does anyone else have an extremely sensitive stomach when abstaining?

Among the other awful things that seem to coincide with me trying to quit alcohol, I now am sensitive to so many foods. Homemade butter chicken, an old time favorite, just sent me projectile vomiting into my bathroom. As it is, the act of eating makes me feel nauseous, but lots of foods will also cause me to become horrendously sick.

I feel like alcohol consumption probably is responsible for my sensitive stomach - I used to be a walking garbage disposal and now I can only eat highly unoffensive foods with mild flavours and agreeable textures.

Is this a problem for others as well?

Absolutely. Go to a doctor and get checked out. Alcohol is terrible for your digestive tract. Eroded esophagus, ulcers, all kinds of things. I didn't really feel it when drinking, but it's been a struggle to get better, in fact it's the last big issue for me. There could also be other reasons for your sensitivity, like celiac disease, or gallstones.

See a doctor, it will put your mind at ease.

I don't know how long you are sober but for the first week or so after quitting my stomach was sensitive and I didn't feel like eating much of anything. Never vomited though. If it continues I would see a doctor.

See a doctor could be a sign of something else, drinking is risky business, keep on abstaining!

See a doctor like the others said.

But one thing is sure Ethanol is good for race cars engines, not our human bodies ;-)

Do see a Dr Brendon - my stomach was a little irritable after a bender but nothing like you describe - it could be many things.

Brendon at the risk of sounding like your Mum I'd suggest that you have coincidentally picked up some nasty bug. I'd check this with the doctor if I were you.
