Welcome to SR!
You are right where you need to be, in the newcomer section!
Read around, and when you feel like posting questions or concerns about your situation, or just share your feelings, post away! People here don't judge, we have been there also.

I think I just deleted another post before it went out. What I wanted to say was thanks to everybody for the support. What a boost it gave me.After my six years of sobriety I blew it.First just a couple of times every few months, then... you know the rest of the story. I spent all day yesterday (my first day after detoxing and letting the fog out) researching a lot of recovery sites and must say that there are a lot of new ideas out there since I first went through hospital stays, rehabs etc.The one that intrigues me the most is telling me to quit believing that I am powerless.I liked that.My thoughts are whatever works for you personally -go for it. I've traveled a lot of roads and even at 60 yrs old I'm willing to be open to other ideas/concepts and take the best of all and blend in to what works for you.
eaglesa1a, your openness to ideas and willingness to pursue various avenues toward achieving sobriety should serve you well.
Your six years of sobriety is impressive. You can regain it. Glad you found us.

Great to meet you eaglesa1a. You found a great place for encouragement. You're among people who understand what you're going through. I felt so much better when I first joined - just knowing I was no longer alone.
I was older too when I stopped - and I had 3 yrs. sober once. I thought I could have a few drinks once in awhile - knowing in my heart where it would lead. Sure enough within a few months I was drinking every day. Took me ages to get back on track, but I'll never return to that horrible dark place. You can do this!

Welcome eagles. At 57 years of age I feel as if I am starting a new phase of life. I tend to get depressed about my age even though such thinking is not productive. It is helpful for me to read message by you and others of a similar age. Eagles, I wish you success in your new plan!
Me neither!
[QUOTE=eaglesa1a;4579990]still not sure how this goes but i'll try[/QUOT
I'm so lost sometimes. I want to drink, but I don't . Want to cry, but I want to be strong. I want to learn, yet I'm so out of focus.
I know we all need other people, but I sometimes feel I do better alone. I'm at ease and can take my time. I'm not rushed. What is right for me, what do I need to make me happy.
