Newbie here. Been reading a lot of threads as a visitor. Finally decided to register.

I am 44 and a single dad. My daughter is in her first year of college. She has lived with me the past 6 years. She is an amazing person.

I started drinking on a nightly basis when my ex and I divorced. She took our daughter with her to another state. I was alone for the first time. Alcohol became my best friend. A pint of vodka every night.

When my daughter moved back in with me, I became a secret drinker... or so I thought. I've quit a couple of times, usually a couple of weeks.

This morning, I decided to quit again. I poured out all liquor and then sat down to tell her I have been drinking. She knew. I would suck as a ninja!

I have anxiety and some health issues I'm sure are a result of alcohol abuse.

I have a good job, great friends and a pretty good life in general. I often beat myself up thinking I have so much and yet I'm an alcoholic.

Anyways, glad to be here. I hope to make it through my day 1. This site has been a huge help.
