Hi, I'm Biskits,
I'm new to this. Been sober since April 2, 2014. Found this site on google. Been drinking for 10 years and this is my first time trying to quit. The anxiety, depression, lack of control, and relationship problems all have led me here. Mostly my anxiety spinning out of control... Not able to control it so I self-medicated which just made things worse. Trying to cope with the anxiety and depression from lack of alcohol too so feel free to message me.
-Thanks

I used booze to self-medicate my anxiety and depression. For a long time, I couldn't sleep until I had quieted the racing thoughts and that took a lot of vodka to do. Once I got sober the anxiety and depression eased up but the early days were really tough with the anxiety. Stay the course, each day sober you spend is a day closer to a better life.

Glad you joined us! That was the best move of your life you did on April 2!
If you have ongoing anxiety issues the Alcohol only makes it worst, if it keep creeping after you stopped for a while, have a chat with your Doctor he/she will be able to help

Welcome, Biskits. You and I have a lot in common. My drinking was out of control for years. Like you, I latched on to SR as part of my first serious attempt to quit drinking. That was more than six months ago and I haven't had a drink since then. You CAN quit. And you don't HAVE to have numerous failed attempts at sobriety. If you are ready now, you should quit now.
Also like you, it was the anxiety that finally drove me to want to be done with alcohol. I drank to relax and, ironically, my anxiety was always the worst after a night of heavy drinking. Racing thoughts, dry heaves, guilt. I had it all. Since I have stopped drinking, my anxiety is MUCH better.
Welcome to SR. Good luck on your sober journey. The path can be a bit rocky, but you have all of us walking along side you.

I'm glad you joined the family. You are smart to stop drinking. Getting sober is the best thing I've ever done for myself.
Stick around. Read and post. Lots of useful info here.
