The conversation with the beer fridge

Yikes! Had to stop a the corner store for some cofee. The beer fridge said, hey Thepatman! Wassssup? Let's have fun tonight! It was full of my favorites, with the water drops on the cans from the coolness.

I ended up buying, chips, chocolate, beef jerkies etc!! All that junk is coming in this belly tonight! But no beer!

Nonsensical 04-04-2014 01:51 PM

The beer cooler at my local store lies to me also. :)

jaynie04 04-04-2014 01:54 PM

Patman….I thought your beer fridge would scream...

Quoi d'neuf mec!!!!

;)

GreenEggsAndHam 04-04-2014 01:56 PM

Good on you for resisting! I try to not look at the coolers when I go in stores or I know temptation will creep in. It's hard!

Mmmm chips, chocolate and beef jerky sounds like dinner to me! I think I survived the last 30 days on cupcakes alone. :~p

Bulk order that stuff from Amazon. You'll save a few bucks and avoid temptation to boot.

Don't listen to him Pat!! . . . he's full of sh*t!! :skillet

Hevyn 04-04-2014 02:39 PM

Proud of you for resisting the evil beer cooler. :) Not surprised though! You're doing great Thepatman.

It didn't do me any good to daydream or
fantasize, romance about all those pretty
bottles, cans filled with poison. In time
I learn how to imagine what they really
look like.....skull and cross bones across
the front with the word poison written
across the front of them.

Then that Serenity Prayer I memorized
right off the bat to relieve my anxiety
or temptation over them.

I still carry those recovery tools with
me to each store I attend where alcohol
is present.

That beer fridge in the corner
Tells me it speaks my language
"Hey man, this is IT!!"

Says the beer fridge

Followed it down a long, dark road
At the end was a swamp
Got jumped and beaten and left in the muck

By that beer fridge

Might be a lotta things
But I ain't stupid no more
Leavin' with my Life, some chips, chocolate and jerkies....

Screw that beer fridge

Right on Thepatman

:ring

Thanks Everyone!

Now that my belly is stuffed I feel super great. Just chilling with a tea and happy, a feeling of calmness and pride. Taking the wrong decision and I would be sitting here feeling shamed and not even having fun, plus back to square one.

This HALT thing is serious business and so true!

Aiko 04-04-2014 03:11 PM

Really really well done Thepatman!!!!

There is more to life than beer.
You changed your values,
you appreciate/Value more your sobriety than those Cans...

That is a great step!!!

I find the water drops on soda cans look even better these days👍
Well done on resisting those invisible tentacles pulling you toward that fridge.

Why are you guys talking to household appliances? Wasn't there a Twilight Zone episode about that? You'd never make it out of Sears alive.

Wow! Thanks for sending me to your post. Junk food is exactly what is ending up working for me too this evening.

LBrain 04-04-2014 06:03 PM

nice work patman, just don't too jammed up on the jerky if you know what I mean ;)

Brian316 04-04-2014 06:17 PM

I sometimes think about the junk food I buy, but remember whatever money I spend on that stuff is much better than spending it on a 12 pack and a bottle of hard stuff. Steer clear!

krete77 04-04-2014 06:25 PM

my cravings for junk food has really increased lately..must be a side effect of going sober?

Taproot 04-04-2014 06:26 PM

Nicely done!

Carlotta 04-04-2014 06:33 PM

Ah, le frigo il en a de la gueule LOL. French fridges have a voice of their own
Pour toi Pat, "Le bruit du frigo" par la Mano Negra

Good song about alcoholism btw
