Hi. I'm new here. 8 days into not drinking.

I spent the day working in the city and decided to treat myself to dinner rather than the usual 2-3 glasses of wine. As I walked, there were people in the streets who were blatantly drunk as the city recently experienced a tragedy and funerals were today. Strangers were trying to connect with people by offering drinks and companionship in the streets.

Needless to say, it was challenging not to join in this "community."

I didn't. I feel better about myself than if I had participated. I know struggles are ahead. Just celebrating a small victory.
