Bad day

I had a huge meltdown today. Just feeling the stress of life and don't have my "go-to" stress reliever of a drink. At the height of my anxiety/nervous breakdown today instead of driving to the liquor store....I went straight to my family doctor. I was finally honest with him about everything and he was so great. He prescribed me an antidepressant and some clonazapam to get through the first two weeks. I feel so much better now having gotten everything out in the open. He had no idea of the problem drinking- I was too ashamed to ever mention it. We have a plan and I'm feeling very optimistic. I'm proud of myself for getting through a very hard day without even considering reaching for a drink.

Coltybear, that is fantastic news. It's so easy to fall back on drinking in these situations, but you didn't cave. You're off to a great start & a new beginning.

Good job! My doctor also gave me clonazapam when I told her I was quitting. It really helped me a lot in the beginning. It is great that you told your doctor and worked out a plan you are comfortable with. Yay!
