Thawing out

Hello! I am 138 days sober today and I just did my fourth step inventory. I have not been on here in a while but just wanted to check in. I feel more confident in my sobriety every day, I also am in love. Since getting sober my life has improved so much it is hard for me to believe. My anxiety and depression are much less intense; my sense of humor returned; and I can think more clearly. These are still early days but I am grateful to be a recovering alcoholic. The best part is feeling true emotions again.

Thank you. I saw someone pick up a chip for 44 years of sobriety tonight. I made baked seafood salad and met with my sponsor earlier. Sobriety means entering uncharted emotional and mental territory every day. Since I quit drinking I can honestly say I am living for the first time since I began to use alcohol and drugs to numb myself. This is the most difficult thing I have ever done and I wish I had not failed so many times before. I changed my life. The great thing is I will continue to change.

That's awesome, Ach! It's great to see things are getting better for you. I'm especially glad to see you overcame the social issues and are no longer lonely!
