Is this normal?

I'm not seeking medical advice. I was on a drinking binge last week during business trip. Finally stopped on Sunday. I expected to be tired and sleepy yesterday which I was but even after a second night of decent sleep I'm still feeling exhausted....and achy (stomach, back, legs, head). I've been on plenty of binge trips but don't remember this after effect. Maybe it's my age or maybe it's my body telling me stop now or else. I'm stopping by all means but was just curious if anyone else experienced this as well.

Hey mighty flea, from my many binges it sounds normal for me, but only you know your own body. I've been out of action for 3-4 days easily.

If you feel anything is getting worse though always best to see a doc.

Take care

yep.... and as I got older and as the impact of the binges through the years took their toll... it got worse and worse.

hang in there, stay sober.

Yes also in my experience. It was also getting worse and worse for me with years of drinking and I believe age is a factor, too.

Sadly it gets worse, never better.
Make it the last time if you can

I've found that, as I got older, binges tended to be worse than the last. Meaning not that the binge was necessarily heavier (more drinking for a longer time), but the recovery was worse. Took longer, felt worse, etc.

I binged according to the medical definition - that is 5 or more drinks in a setting. I never did the whole 2 or 3 (or more) day binge without letting up. I understand one of my distant family members would go on 1 or 2 week binges.

Nevertheless, when I was binging under the medical definition, I certainly felt like hell afterwards. Back in the old days, I could drink and have no problem recovering quickly. As I've gotten older, that's no longer the case.

It's a pretty normal progression and may not just be "getting older"

I always just called the 3-4 days after a binge a hangover. Looking back, I'm pretty sure it was actually alcohol poisoning.

It gets better, in SO many ways, the longer you stay sober.
