Hi all, new to the site, child of alcoholics, married to an alcoholic but I myself do not have a problem, I am not much of a drinker. I was doing a search because my husband drinks and hides it, but moreso he lies to me about it. I know he has a problem, he does as well but he likes drinking and even being out right now on bond after he got a DUI in Sept 2013 is enough to stop him.

None the less I found my way here, I have decided to stop fighting this crazy fight, I can't help him if he refuses to help himself and I just don't want the aggravation anymore. I plan on attending Al anon meetings beginning this week. I am now on a path to help myself, I am codependent, probably have been my entire life, but I read something on the Al anon website that stated that a loved one can become just as addicted to the alcoholic as the alcoholic is to the alcohol and it hit home... so here I am.

Welcome lostsadalone! I'm glad you found us. It helps to not struggle with this alone.

You may want to give our Friends & Family of Alcoholics Forum a look too - many there are going through the same heartache. It's good you're giving Al Anon a try.

It is good to understand how to heal yourself.

Say what you feel! Your feelings are valid! There's nothing wrong about how you feel! Keep going to meetings and if you are uncomfortable at that one, try another!
