my son

Hi
I lost my son recently .... I want to start a support in sleepy hollow / tarrytown as there is none in this area. I am not sure how to proceed and welcome any suggestions. Also to speak / reach out to the ones who are still fighting with heroin addition.

Welcome to the family. I'm sorry for the loss of your son to addiction. :( We understand that here as we are each battling addiction in some form, either for ourselves or our loved ones.

I'm glad you joined us.

I'm so sorry to hear about your son, ty. (((HUGS)))

I don't have a clue how to start a support group, but maybe you could check with groups in other areas and ask how they started? I really don't know, but it's a good thing that you want to reach out to others.

We have a wonderful Friends and Family forum here that might be able to help you. Here's a link...

All I can suggest is to search the internet and if all else fails, just wing it. Maybe start by renting out a room in a church, post flyers, put newspaper ads in the newspaper, hand out flyers, talk to the hospital. Start a non profit organization. Perhaps do a bake sale, or start a group in your home, go to the local coffee shop and network. I am not from a small town, nor do I particularly like small towns. They do have their charms for a short time with me.
