I have read before that it is a symptom of alcohol poisoning.

Could be a number of issues.

Bed Bugs, those are a pain to deal with. Put everything into the dryer and put through multiple cycles to kill those b@st3rds.

Could be a skin issue, try some itch cream and go to a doctor. Would be the best thing to do, about this itch issue and your love of the flowery liquids called booze.

Alcohol poisoning is really really bad. You would know if you had it.

I'm 24hrs in. I have read people's withdrawal posts describing how their skin felt like it was crawling...well that's exactly how I feel so I guess it's a result of withdrawal. Feel like I've been hit by a truck...can't sleep...oh well at least I can say I made it through Day 1....scared of what's in store for me though.

Congrats on day 1 !! That's fantastic.

I itched for a few weeks. I also had numbness and tingling all over.

It's a poison for sure and you are on your way to being rid of it !

Thanks alphaomega. I can relate to the numbness and tingling all over also. It's reassuring to hear someone else say they shared the same experience.

Mish, there have been a few threads discussing itching... just do a search on SR and you'll find them. I also had itching, tingling, pins and needles etc many times 1-2 days after stopping drinking. If it does not get better after a few days, maybe see a doctor?

Congrats btw

Hi Mish,

First of all, well done on have the mental strength to do what thousands of others do not have the strength too- quit drinking. Anyone reading your post looks back and can sympathise with your progress, I too felt this way in the first few days, skin itching constantly, night sweats and insomnia. This luckily passes quickly for most people Mish, so ride the itchy wave as much as you can and when it seems tough come back to me and I will help as much as I can based on my own experience- drink plenty of water it helps moisturise and sooth your skin.

Itchy skin and liver functions go together. Give it some time it should subside.

It's always best to detox with supervision. If you have not already mention it to your doc.

If you are going it alone then see someone if it gets out of hand.

Getting past this part is difficult but doable. And once you do things get better.

All the best to you!

My hands itched like crazy at about day 5. I had the crawling skin sensation on my arms at the same time. For me, it only lasted a day.

I agree with Weasel. If you're concerned, please talk to your doctor.
