Straight from the horses' mouth ... Hi, I work as a medical transcriptionist and just had to share this from a letter about a female patient written by a cardiologist I work for to her GP. In this lady's diagnostic list was: "Excess alcohol use". In the body of the letter he wrote "Her alcohol intake is excessive, up to a bottle of wine two to three times a week". What did that make my 1 bottle a night and more on the weekend, if 2 to 3 bottles a week is excessive?! If that isn't a wake up call to me I don't know what is! |
I'm about the same as you and I'm seeing the same wake up call. Thanks. |
GCG, that's why total abstinence is the only way for me. I couldn't drink at the recommended levels, ever; I like it too much. BTW - I was a bottle a night. |
I guess 3 bottles for breakfast is out, then? |
I appreciate you haven't given any details about the lady in question, but I'm concerned about the ethics of this... |
Wow - that does put things into perspective. |
A bottle of wine two times a week is 8 glasses. I think it is quite an exaggeration to say that 8 glasses a week is excessive. But that is just my opinion. Still anyone who can and does finish a full bottle of wine in one sitting/incident on a semi-regular basis is probably headed down a destructive path. |
There's evidence that more than 5 ounces a day is harmful to women, who metabolize alcohol differently than men. Ring the bells that still can ring, forget your perfect offering, there's a crack in everything, that's how the sun gets in. Leonard Cohen |
