I'm really struggling right now...

It's time to go home from work and I'm having a new kind of struggle right now. It's one of our first, sunny spring-like days and what I'm feeling is a first...not even a craving but just kind of like a calm feeling that it's already settled that I'm going by the liquor store on the way home. I don't even want to drink moderately - I just want to buy a 350ml of vodka, pop into an alley and start drinking it on the way home. It also feels really unfair that I should have to even struggle with this.

It's 4:30pm here right now, so I want to publicly commit to not walking by the liquor store or drinking on the way home and that I'll come back online and post when I get home which should be no later than around 5:15pm.

Keep me in your thoughts.

You can do this. No need to change your sobriety date. You are going to stay sober, I know it.

Lance I know that feeling well. Once we get over a few of those hurdles it becomes so much easier. Think how wonderful you'll feel to rise above this temptation and make it home without caving. We look forward to hearing the good news. You can do this Lance.

Hang in there, Lance. I'm proud of you for coming here first.

Is there another way you can take to get home so you don't have to walk by the poison store?

Thanks everyone - I'm home now, I didn't cave and I'm feeling okay. I changed my route home so I didn't go by the liquor store and when I stopped at the grocery store for supper I found this beautiful red velvet chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting. I picked it up and spent the rest of the walk home anticipating how good it's going to taste.

Thanks again for all your support. It really means a lot to me.

Cool. That's awesome.
Just go easy on the cake. I just finished 3 ice-cream bars and washed them down with milk of all things.

Great move going home by a different route. That helped me a lot too.

I'm glad you got through that.

I ate an entire cake in one weekend. Yes. By myself. Mind you not all at once but I bought it Saturday and it was gone by Sunday night but it's better that vs a 40 of cheap beer and a hangover. I will take a tummy ache from too much cake over alcohol induced any day!

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!! Enjoy your cake. All of it
