The best part of having 14 days sober is...

...having 14 consecutive nights that I remember!

No more living my evenings in alcohol induced amnesia.

No more shame and embarrassment every morning by what I evidently did the night before in my drunken, black-out stupor.

Feels totally awesome. =)

Awesome job GEAH!! Those are nice things and I will add not being afraid to look at my phone to see calls/texts made from the night before

Oh definitely. It got to where I would not read my drunken texts or Facebook messages. Or if someone said, "Do you remember what you said last night?" I'd say, "Please just don't tell me."

I actually get to remember living my life now and not acting a fool while doing it. :~p

It makes me so sad to think of the countless hours of memories that I've given up with my kids due to my blacking out.

I'm thankful for the fact that when I wake up with a bruise, I actually remember how I got it!

I understand those feelings 100%. I try to cope with them by being the best dad I can today, and I already see a difference. Kids are much more wary than we think...and they already know you are doing better...believe me. You are also teaching them a valuable lesson about how to overcome adversity....keep up,the good work.

Yikes! This has happened so often over the years that I dubbed them 'mystery bruises'.

Should've known that isn't normal.

GEAH - Your post rings so true to me. So many times I just didn't want to know what I said/did - because then I didn't have to deal with it.
