New & Need a Friend
Hi.
I'm 28, and I first started drinking 3years ago as a pain killer when I had a horrible infection that wouldn't go away. Then I began drinking to sleep. Then I couldn't sleep without drinking. Now I have such bad insomnia I can't sleep no matter what I do.
I've lost a tremendous amount of weight, I'm emaciated but have a puffy face (gross) and my levels have been checked and my pancreatic and liver enzymes are seriously through the roof.
I have other health issues as well, (I can't really leave the house) but what I'm trying to say is I want to quit, and I need a friend to talk to about this, and someone else to buddy with to keep each other sober.

You have found a great place! I know where you're coming from re insomnia. Once I quit drinking I began to realize that I hadn't really 'gone to sleep' in years, just drank til I could pass out.
The good news is that I did manage to quit, and once I did things started getting better. Being sober doesn't fix every problem in life but it's a great start. If you want to quit drinking then SR is an awesome resource.

Hi Kittygirl,
Everyone here is super supportive and kind, you can reach out to anyone and they will help.
I am here if you need to talk, I am in Michigan so the time zone may be different. But welcome and thank you for reaching out, it can be hard I know!

As you can see you have there are plenty here to lean on for help. I just relapsed after 5 years clean from crack cocaine and went on a 3 day binge. I'm now back to day 1 again so keep your head up. I'm new to this site and plan on being using it a lot.
When we addicts get lonely or depressed is when addiction steps in. I'm guilty of this just recently myself. I feel now with this site if I find myself lonely or depressed I now have fellow addicts to lean on and so do you.

Thank you so much everyone. I keep this tab open and keep reading old posts throughout the day to keep myself strong. But I'm not gonna lie: I think about drinking all the time. It's like an itch you just want to scratch so hard you hurt yourself--which is exactly what alcohol does... hurt you.
I also want to apologize for not being able to send friend requests or reply in the way I wish to. I'm trying to get used to how this forum works, and I'm kinda dumb when it comes to figuring out different systems :P
