Cravings are killing me!

Is been eleven days and I have been doing good. But the friggin cravings are killing me. 60 Degrees today and the sun is shining. I would love to have a ICE COLD BEER today! i wont, but man, the thought of it......
Wish these feelings would go away already!!!
Oh and the beer buzz, miss that too..

Cravings won't kill you. Liver damage or failure will. ;-)

Great job hanging on! Keep pushing!

I'm also having cravings. Its Saturday and beach day. I am cleaning my house getting ready to go soon. Would love a drink right now while im listening to music and cleaning.

I have work tonight so I won't. The old me wouldn't care. I would sober myself up before work.

Its 11am for goodness sake! Just got to make it to tonight. I'm not really a night drinker. Hang in there hunter we can do it!

Well said patman, that is the reality of it really isnt it? Lying in a hospital bed or on the streets all for that quick buzz that goes oh so quickly :(

I understand the cravings though, really does get too much sometimes doesnt it? I just put on some tv or take a bath, do anything really and ride it out. I just keep thinking I cannot have a drink, to me it is poison. You can do it, and Im glad you didnt give in

@Jade, I keep telling myself the same thing, just got to make it until 10 Tonight, then its bed time. What a bitch!

Just wish the thoughts would go away.

No doubt that the first nice days of the spring season can be a trigger. Hang in there, it does get better.

Each time you don't give in to the craving you really do get stronger. I thought that Friday nights were going to kill me the cravings were so strong. It was worth it to hang on through the struggles. Now Friday is a time to rest and have fun. A craving may hit once in awhile but it isn't as long or as strong. It's nice to have sun and warmth be just that now....it's not a drink or a reason to drink any more. Hang strong!

Keep yourself busy! Do anything to keep your mind off of it! Tell yourself for the next 10 minutes I'm not going to drink or obsess over a drink, and in those 10 minutes do anything that requires mental focus/attention to distract yourself from the craving. Keep doing that! And if you're all out of things to do just tell yourself that it will eventually pass; ALL feelings do pass. Remember, just because you want to drink doesn't mean you have to.

Getting through the cravings is the way to beat them and to make it easier the next time.

What i find helps with cravings is get a notepad and write down the pros of drinking...
And the not good things of drinking...
Have a long look....
Also i use sticking notes and write down the benefits of staying sober
Lose weight
No hangovers
Skin looks healthier
More money
No telephontis
Bills are paid
Leave these in rooms your in most
Write down the days you have got through
Might sound daft
But it works for me

Keep fighting
I'm almost through day 4 now

AA worked and works for me when the cravings come. It is so much easier to go to a meeting than white knuckling it

We all had cravings early in recovery. They're just thoughts and don't have to become actions. :)
