Gambling Addiction
Hi
This is my first post. I'd like to know if anyone in the group has a gambling addiction. I do and seeking help anywhere I can. Thought someone may know of some good online places to read articles or peoples own way to recovery. I am going to see a Psychologist and will start GA meetings soon. Any help is appreciated.

I have no experience with gambling but if you are male, you could post this in the Men only forum for more insight. If you're female, post it in the Women's forum.

Welcome to SR!

I had a pretty strong gambling addiction that went hand-in-hand with my alcoholism. I'd often pass out and wake up later to realize I'd put hundreds of dollars down on a random Royals/Padres interleague game while I was drunk. My gambling stopped completely as soon as I quit alcohol and drugs. I hope you stop as well, I think it is often connected to other addictions. Have you stopped drinking/drugs? I feel this was a major component in my gambling, though I understand that's not always the case.
I primarily gambled on sports, but also have some history with online poker as well as casino gaming. I have some fairly extensive knowledge and if you'd like to talk more privately you can always PM me if you'd like to share what you are going through. It's tough to admit you've got a problem and I think your counseling will help also.
