Hello 10 days and still counting.

Hello lovely people . My names liam I'm from london England.
Been sober for ten days and had some serious side effects and has been a big wake up to me. Of how I have been throwing my life away living in a drunken state, killing myself , pushing away people who love me.

I have managed to do it cold turkey.but first week thought I was going to die. My breathing is almost back to normal and dizzy spells at night. But still feel dehydrated even though I'm drinking 2-3 litres of water per day.

How long will the side effects last?

just taking one day at a time.and staying positive.
I realise I chose to drink I chose for my life to turn out this way so now I choose to stay sober. And I choose to start my life again.

Much love to all of you fighting your battle.

Welcome Liam, Congratulations on ten days - you've found a great place for support anytime. Everyone's different, but side effects DO subside. Every days sober will feel a bit better. Hang in there!

Great job on 10 Days liam!!

It's different for everyone, but things will get easier with time, if you have any concerns though check with a Dr, stay safe!!

Congrats, Liam! I'm right there with you, Day 10!

I had had dizzy spells and a couple of other side effects but been fairly normal. Hang in there; they'll go away soon hopefully.

Hi Liam, best to get it checked out by a doc which you are doing so good on that. We've all put our brains, livers and other vital organs through the wringer with a powerful toxin and it takes time for them to regenerate and re calibrate, but they can and do if we stop in time. And stay stopped. Be honest with the doc about what you've been up to and are trying to do though, s/he will be able to help x

Pretty good day today. Went down the park and sat in the sun chatting with a good friend and had some lunch .
Felt relaxed and happy still a bit tender.
Have hospital in morning so fingers crossed .

Thanks for all the support. It's so destructive alcohol. it took away the fight and drive inside me. all my ambitions dreams and goals. Makes me feel stupid when I think about it . But every negative there's a positive.

My positive list.
Been working on my flat.
Seen my best friend.
Feeling better everyday.
Got some sun
Medical help.
Support from my friends family and you lovely people.

Much love to all of you.

Results came back clear. Things are getting better . I'm relaxing still got another week of work. So taking it easy .

I went to a BBQ and didn't drink. Was happy with my cup of tea. And watched everyone else get drunk. Shows how much I don't want to drink as could of cracked.

I also weighed myself and in two weeks lost half a stone!!

Fantastic, Liam! Hope that's a weight off your mind. Sounds like you are on track - nice one on half a stone too!

Take it easy x
