It's going to be a tough day

It's my mom's birthday. I need to call her to wish her a happy birthday. I'm scared to call her. I really let her down recently and it was because of my drinking. I'm sure she really knows how much a trainwreck I've actually been. This is going to be my first big challenge. She's always been there for me and I have messed it up. I'm just hoping that she will give me the chance to show her I'm not going to let her down anymore.

So call her and wish her a happy birthday. And just stay sober, that's the best proof you can give her.

Call her and tell her how much you love her and wish her a very happy birthday.

Do not worry about it because a mothers love is unconditional. While you may have made some mistakes in the past, I'm sure she still loves you.

Show her how much you care with your continued sobriety. I'm sure she would appreciate that more than any gift you might give her.

Congratulations on your first week sober!

So, I'm going to call her in an hour. I feel the anxiety starting to creep in.

Wow, goes to show you how much I was wrong about things. Just talked to my mom and she was so happy to hear from me and told me how concerned she was for me. She told me she wants me to call her more and she loves me very much. I guess I haven't alienated everyone in my life. That just made things look so much brighter.

OH OH! This is so exciting.

People are always willing to forgive, especially family. Just be the best you can be from now on.

I'm glad it went well. I remember feeling that way about people I let down - and it took me forever to apologize because I was so afraid of rejection. You did the right thing and got a great reaction - happy for you! I'm sure you're very relieved.

Thanks guys. Been an emotional day for me and now I'm crying like a baby. I don't feel so hopeless.

Let it out, Aarryckha. See, I knew it would be OK. Now, do what your mother says and call her more often. There is nothing like a mother's love!

Keep it rolling, you are doing great!
