Morning :)

Morning all well had a rough night last night didn't sleep well, woke up at 4 am felt a bit of anxiety but managed to get back to sleep. Atleast im not hungover which is great but im still struggling big time but I guess it passes as im early in my sobriety.

Went to the park yesterday afternoon and seen people jogging and walking their dogs it was great to see that there IS a life without booze, I just wanna reach that place where im HAPPY without it!

Well day 4 checking in and not giving in!!!

Whoo hoo! Congrats on day 4. It does get better as time goes on. You will see. And eventually you will be very happy and it will not fill your every thought.

One day at a time and keep it simple. You can and are doing this .

The first weekends can be hard; most of us were used to drinking especially heavily to "celebrate" the weekend. You need a good distraction! Maybe a movie?

Hi Chilledice.

Distractions can be good? Walk the dogs, mop the floor, etc.
When I can't sleep (I know it sounds silly) but I make lists of what I'm going to do tomorrow, besides going to work. I plan what clothes I'm going to wear, what route I will take to the office or site. Then after work what is the one or two one positive things I'm going to do round the house or for someone else. Go trim my neighbour's roses, replace that floor tile that seems to be coming lose, catalogue my dvd's, anything to keep my mind busy. I know it sounds like small and insignificant stuff but I could never have done this while I was drunk anyway, even if I wanted to. So there's been a lot of neglect around the place and now it's time to put it right, even one or two trivial things a day. When it's done it makes me feel good because now I can say "I planned it and I did it", rather than when I was drinking and say "I planned it but got wasted instead and didn't achieve even that simple task because I would rather have been drinking".

Strength!

B.
