I need to get this off my chest

Tonight is Mardi Gras. I am not Catholic. I have never given anything up for Lent. I have never celebrated Mardi Gras in my life before. Yet I find myself wanting to drink because "it is Mardi Gras!". How sick is that? I thought if I admitted it I would be better off. I know tomorrow I will be glad I did not drink tonight. There is always going to be some event that comes up.

You got it right, there is always going to be some event that comes up. Life is full of events. It just takes awhile to get out of the habit of finding reasons to drink, just keep at it.

On unrelated note, 251 days today. Have not found reason to drink for awhile..

For me just the sun not setting down as I expected was a trigger.

You are doing great ;-)

I used to use any excuse to drink. Didn't matter what it was, I made it a reason to drink. So glad those days are gone. I'm glad you're not going to drink tonight.

It's ash Wednesday today here...one year I drank all through Tuesday and Tuesday night to 'give it up for lent'.

I made it til lunchtime.

There's always a good excuse to drink, but never a good reason.
Stay strong 2b

Good for you!

Earlier, I was thinking that today would usually be a trigger for me because - are you ready for this - it's the night that the new board of directors is elected for my kids' youth hockey league.

Alco-logic.

I wrote my first computer program today...and it's mardi gras!!! I had that voice telling me to drink.... so I told it to shut the **** up....now I'm home, sober, and bored....so I came on here to kill time till I'm sleepy enough to sleep.... if you do nothing but lay in bed all night (order food it's mardi gras) and eat your heart out....it's still better than drinking....
