28 days later..
My life has changed so much in last 28 days. I realized my problem and realized that I needed help. Since I am currently deployed with the navy I have not been able to attend any treatment this far.. I have been screened through the mental health channels and have been diagnosed by them as alcohol dependent and requiring intensive outpatient rehab treatment to get back to normal. I've lost my flying status and probably will never get that back. I go through sever bouts of frustration based on the way I am being treated by my command and them not letting me go to treatment because it is not convenient enough for them to let me go, which is a completely separate battle that I am fighting. I struggle with long boring days of just watching the clock tick by with no outlook of hope. They have been talking about sending me through treatment in mid May when they have an aircraft returning to the states already so I can hitch a ride on that. I'm thankful for the 28 day so far and I'm still hoping that I can get to the treatment I need before too long.
I'm usually on here reading about people's stories so thank you all for the encouragement, even if you didn't know you were affecting me.

Wow, Jake, even under those difficult circumstances, you have managed to stay sober. Way to go!
I'm glad you posted. We can give support you while you wait for the military to give you the help you're asking for.

Well done Jake, please keep at it. Hopefully you will be able to return to flying status. For a little inspiration you might want to read the story Grounded http://www.aa.org/bigbookonline/en_t...earlyall11.pdf. It's about a pilot who lost his wings but was able to return to flying again. It's from the AA Big Book. I found it to be one of the more encouraging stories in the book.
for us -- if alcoholic ?? -- which I am
I have found
that's the best place for us to stay
grateful for the days sober that we do have
true -- much wreckage of my (our) past needs to be sorted through
it all happens brother in time
if
we keep doing the right things
for us -- if alcoholic
this starts with not drinking
