Hey everyone!
First night here. 20 hours sober. My therapist has recommended AA, and I've found a meeting to go to, but I'm too terrified to go. I'm also a little on the shy side. Any tips for getting started? Thanks in advance

I too was terrified to go to my first AA meeting and also am socially awkward. They were fantastic, very welcoming and warm. I think everyone is scared the first time but you just have to take the leap of faith and go for it.

Welcome Bonita. I hope that you at least give it a try. It may be the best thing that ever happened to you.

Just go and keep an open mind. The people there want to help you get sober. That's what AA is for. Give it a try. Can't hurt.

Can identify a little coz a marriage counselor is the one who recommended it to me. But got over the nervousness once I heard person after person said smthg that could say to myself, "that's me"! Twill be fine & as Gakx said , to me 'twas the best thg that ever happened. Keep an open mind coz like parachute, only works when opened
