Pain on left side?

Hi, wondering if anyone experienced this after quitting drinking. About a week after quitting I would get dull stabbing pains under my rib cage on the left side, mostly on an empty stomach. They misteriously went away after about six weeks of not drinking. I know the liver is on the right side, and I dont want to ask my Dr because I dont want to have history of alcohol abuse on my medical record
I am just curious what it was and if anyone else has had it after quitting.

Yes I used to get that and it went away eventually. If it persists I would get it checked out. xxxx

Thanks for the response Kate,I figured it was drinking related because it has gone away for good! God only knows what damage I was doing to my body everyday while drinking. Glad that is over!

I did have something very similar. It was gastritis.

I have had both alcohol induced gastritis and antibiotic induced.

Then that must be it! I went for an endoscopy three weeks ago for chronic heartburn and the Dr found gastritis. He thought it was because I tested positive for H pylory, but apparently alcohol causes gastritis as well. The pain is gone since I stopped drinking, so that explains it.

I have been cured with Manuka Honey.

Protonix and Nexium cant hold a candle to it.

It was a literal miracle for me.

I had the same thing as well. It's gone now. I definitely think it was gastritis. Happy to report that after almost 3 months of sobriety that there is no more gastritis or pain. I thought it might be my pancreas at one point but all of the blood tests came back great. Also I did a couple rounds of quality probiotics which really was the turning point, which I started about a month after stopping alcohol. Hope this helps!

Yes, have this! All my blood work is clear have had an ultra sound of the ab and kidneys. Tomorrow I am having a CT just for full clearance. Alcohol has really jacked me up!! Can't even imagine what I would be like in a few years if I hadn't of given it up now.
