Vegas, eight days later....
yep, I've never made a Riviera meeting... been to a couple here in the past but just haven't worked it in this trip.
Turns out, between SR and calling my sponsor and simply remaining committed to my sobriety - I really haven't felt the need for a meeting. Good to know it's there if things get tough though!

Just got back from a farewell reception of numerous colleagues and leaders here in Vegas.
Pellegrino is my friend; it's a lovely water. Sparkling and crisp. With a lemon and lime slice and it's fancy glass bottle it feels like something special, tastes wonderful and feels great.
I watched and smelled people becoming increasingly drunk around me. Not all, but several who were well into several days of heavy drinking. Some commented they'd not eaten all day - as they ordered more straight martinis. People who don't normally smoke lit up. Eyes were glazed and red. There was talk of moving out to the strip clubs.
I excused myself after making the rounds for an hour and a half, drinking my Pellegrino. More than one person commented "you're smart" and one even said "I wish I didn't drink...".
What a thing to say over a seventh glass of red wine.... "I wish I didn't drink".
Tomorrow morning I get up and head home to my family; happy, healthy, sober, rested and inspired.
Thank you again to all of you who commented and gave me your thoughts and prayers and to you newcomers and others posting your stories that all helped keep me sober for this 9-day stint in the city of sin.
