P.m. Cold medicine
Personally, I wouldn't take it just to try to sleep. Not what it's made for and too much of a likelihood that it would be a problem for me. I try to be very careful about what I take and why.
There's a section here on insomnia you might care to check out. Trouble sleeping is pretty common for recovering addicts/alcoholics. Insomnia/Nightmares - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information There are some stickies at the top with lots of recommendations on healthy ways to try to fall asleep.

Are you worried you won't sleep because you ache, or do you have a history of insomnia?
Usually the body will sleep after a day of hard labour work, aches or not Axel.
If you normally sleep ok, chances are you'll do just fine without anything

Look carefully at the labels. Niquil has alcohol in it. Tylenol PM has a sleep aid but I don't know what it is or if it's safe.
Sometimes I use benadryl for my anxiety, allergies, and as a sleep aid. But I wouldn't recommend making a habit of it.
