Sober Vacation

Off for my first sober vacation!! I am going to Cuba. I hope that everything goes well and when I come back I am able to celebrate 6 straight months of sobriety. I am nervous because I will not have any access to the internet while I am away. Whatever happens it will be all me. I want to enjoy life without succumbing to the numbing effects of alcohol. I want to be free and just enjoy this break after a lot of hard work, please send any positive vibes my way SR friends. I will miss you! I have made it to 172 days because of your wonderful and unconditional support! :tyou

Sober vacations are wonderful!! You will remember everything and feel great the whole time....Set your mind to it and it will happen. Enjoy every second of it. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Oh yes.....and ditto on having a plan in place to avoid temptation.

Have a good trip Flying - I'm not sure if you're an AAer but it's a good bet there are English speaking AA meetings in places like Havana - it might be useful for support :)

There is Internet cafés and computers all over Cuba. If you are in a resort WIFI should be available. I obviously don't know where you are staying but just a few ideas.

I remember when I pulled that move, got out of rehab and went on vacation. In no time I was looking for the embassy. I would say go for it if you have worked all 12 steps with a sponsor.

Well, I made it thru my vacation sober and it was quite an interesting experience. I have made a honest commitment to my sobriety and I want it so strongly. Tomorrow I will be 6 months sober. I am so proud of myself and I feel like there is so much potential in my life right now, especially if I am willing to tolerate ambiguity for awhile. I graduate in a couple of months and I will be starting a new life. I am so glad to be doing it sober! Thanks for the support! :)
