Red face My girls

I am very grateful for my two children. We had a terrible incident in our town this week - a 10 year old little girl was kidnapped and killed. I am thankful for safety, our resilience as a community, and my conceal and carry permit.

I moved this thread from gratitude forum to newcomers.
I agree it's important to cherish those we love, especially children

A conceal and carry permit allows a person to carry a gun (usually a handgun) either on their person (out of sight) or in their car.

It's for a handgun not a rifle. I take it when I travel and I keep it in a safe next to my bed

Blimey, it's very different over here...we would be prosecuted for carrying a weapon of any kind, gun, knife whatever. I had never even heard the phrase before

I certainly hope you unload and lock your gun each evening before you start drinking. I understand and respect then right as a US citizen, and I own guns. Any amount if alcohol is too much when in possession of a loaded weapon.

Quite. Alcoholics and guns cannot mix well in any circumstances

Staying sober is the best thing you can do to protect your children

I would say if you are drunk and passed out, there is little chance of protecting your house. I could have slept through an earthquake when I was drinking. As was stated above, the best protection for your family is not to drink. Active alcoholics should not have a gun in their house.

This is not a place for gun debate. I am sorry that your town had this happen and very glad that your girls are safe.
