My well meaning knucklehead DH....
I have been sober for 50 days today. I had long talks with my DH about how excited I was to try a sober life and how I wanted a better life for me and our family. He has been extremely supportive (he is a non drinker for religious reasons). I told him I wanted to keep it between the two of us for now. I'm not ashamed of being sober, far from it, it's just very new and personal and I don't want to deal with other people's opinions etc right now. Well tonight he starts off a conversation saying "oh, I was talking to soandso today and told him how proud I am of you for not drinking."
!!!!!!WTF!!!!!!!
Seriously. Does he hear anything I say to him? lol.

My daughter did that to me the other day. I just can't get upset with her as she is so happy I am sober. That is probably how your hubby feels .
Also I know for her it is just hard to try to keep it a secret from everyone and in a way I don't think it is fair for me to ask her to. But I'm just talking about me here. I can understand it being new and not wanting everyone to know until you are ready.
And congrats on day 50 you are fabulous!

Lol Shoebox...
In all seriousness, I'm sorry to hear that your desire for anonymity was broken. I'm incredibly open about my sobriety, I'll tell a random stranger for no reason other then to let them know where I stand. I understand why some people might want it though, and I understand your explanation. I would state, firmly and lovingly, that you want anonymity, and if you want someone to know then you will tell them. Explain your reasons. It might help him understand and be more willing to keep a closed mouth.
