I'm 16 days into my second or third go at sobriety.

Cool. I'm taking it easy this time, I've been enjoying noticing my spirituality as apposed to looking. These coincidences are all around. I think I stepped in #3
It took me twenty some odd years to be here. I hope to reverse the damage to my body and brain, it's gonna be a while.

Hi, Axle. Glad you found us! SR is like a meeting, hotline, library, and clubhouse, all rolled into one.

I know exactly what you mean about those 20 years; my only regret is I didn't wise up sooner. Then again, the phrase "better late than never" has never felt more true.

It sounds like you might also get a lot out of these SR forums: Alcoholism-12 Step Support - SoberRecovery : Alcoholism Drug Addiction Help and Information

Axle, being active in SR has been great support for my recovery. Maybe this will be your last go a sobriety - and I mean that in a good way.

90 in 90, yeah, what about day 91? Meetings never kept me sober, and I did 5 meetings a day. I stayed sober by working all 12 steps in order as its layed out in the Big Book. 90 in 90 is just a big city slogan. Many people live in small towns all across this land, with one meeting a week. Some work and live out in the bush, some on oil platforms out in the middle of the ocean. They all stay sober by working the program, not by going to meetings all the time. Most people just dont realize this, they are fixated on this 90 meetings in 90 days, or they feel sooooooooo good after a meeting that they just want more, its just like a drug actually. I often wonder if there is such a thing called Meetings Anonymous. 90 in 90 keeps ya sober for 90 days, until day 91 when life happens. However I will add this, in the beginning its good to get used to meetings, but dont put all your eggs in one basket (the meetings). There is another basket that kepts us sober, its called working the 12 steps, if I dont work the steps, help others, try to gain a higherpower. I am dead.

Welcome to the family! Having SR available all the time is like having a meeting going on all the time. There's always someone here so take advantage of our company and post, read, learn, and help yourself to sobriety.

Welcome Axle, so glad you're here. I have to agree with least (who talks a lot of sense imo)...the best thing about this site is that it's always open, and there's always someone around so I never feel alone. One of the best times here was at New Year, before I found SR I would have felt as though the rest of the world was out having fun and I was the saddo home alone. Very comforting to find so many others who are going through similar things and understand

Congrats! That reversal started 16 days ago and will get better every day.

Matt - Serious subject, but Meetings Anonymous had me cracking up at my desk.
