If you stay sober the rewards are endless

I started taking sobriety seriously after a DUI and suicide attempt in 11/2012. I surrendered to my drink problem and threw myself into recovery with all my might. I had to complete an alcohol education program and a MADD victim impact panel as per the judge. I lost my license for 6 months. Small prices to pay in my opinion. Thank God I didn't succeed in hurting myself or anyone else that night. My case will be closed on 3/5/2014. I spoke to the court bailiff today and I don't even have to return, just faxed her the paperwork. This is such a huge thing to put behind me! A year and a half of feeling the consequences of my last drink somewhat open ended. I feel so free and unencumbered. I feel peaceful and happy. Oh I have bad days YES lol but overall life's really great. Wonderful friends and so much more to learn. I hope I keep my willingness to live a sober life because it really is so much better. No matter how bad you think you have it or how big of a mess you are in, never give up! When sober we can clean up messes a lot more effectively and not add new ones.

Great news! So happy that you can close that chapter very soon.

I have had so many near disasters that I began getting scared of a DUI or doing something else to put myself in danger.

Thank you for sharing your story, it's encouraging to those of us just beginning the journey.

Hope is a wonderful thing. I find the harder I work at something, the more hope I have for success.

and isnt that the crux of the problem most times.

When we say we cant stop, we just dont take our sobriety as seriously as we should.
We need to put in more effort in stopping as we did ini drinking.
Thats to me was key.

Proud of you
