30 Days and Life is Good. :)

Today marks 30 days of my sobriety from alcohol and prescription drugs. Everyone told me life would get so much better if I did one thing - not pick up. They were right.

The first couple weeks were hard (the first few days were awful)...but now things feel right and they feel good.

Work is better, my finances are slowly coming together, I am more productive, more social...etx.

Thank you to everyone here on SR. And if you are new and or thinking about quitting, you CAN do it. And life is truly so much better sober.

Xo

Its been proven time and time again that just stopping the drink is not enough. Its a beginning. I am reminded of one of our founding members named Doctor Bob. He had to do a surgery and his nerves were shot. So he had a few drinks to calm his nerves for the surgery. Thats what they did back in those days. The medical industry has advanced now, now theres a pill for that. He was on his step 5, so after the surgery he left the hospital and started on his amends right away. Then came Mr. Dotson, the 3rd member of AA, the guy on the bed in the picture that you might see in the rooms. Very interesting.

Nicole that's awesome! Keep going and you'll see things improve even more. I once heard a famous recovered alcoholic say "sobriety is the best gift I ever gave myself" and I couldn't agree more.

That's awesome. I did three months a couple of years ago. This site helped me do it. I blew it on the fourth of July and have been messed up ever since. On three days now and this time it's something I want not just something I know I need to do. Thank you for the inspiration.

I have been sober now for 8 days. I am so glad to have found this forum and it has been so encouraging reading these posts. Thank you all for helping me not drink for the first weekend in 12 years!
